The Original 3 Day Tuna Diet

I scoured high and low for the original 3 day tuna diet plan.  I'll tell you, I had a very hard time finding anything on it!  It almost seemed like an urban legend of some sort.

And once I read it, I figured out why.

The diet is nothing but canned tuna, and not a whole lot of it, either!

That's it.  No celery, no mayo.  No salads.  Just canned tuna.  Roughly an ounce per hour.

And only 6 to 9 ounces per day!  Of course you'd lose weight, assuming that you didn't keel over from hunger first.

3 Day Tuna DietI mentioned before, I wouldn't wish the original 3 day tuna fish diet on anyone.  It's just not healthy - period.  If you have to try a tuna plan, go for the new and improved 3 day tuna diet.

The Original 3 Day Tuna Diet History

Supposedly the original plan was developed by body builders who wanted to go on a high-protein low-fat diet, just  before a competition.  Tuna fish, at just 100 calories per three ounce can, let them get the most "bang for the buck".

Although I can't find any proof, I am willing to bet that the body builders didn't just eat 6 to 9 ounces of tuna per day!  That's not a whole lot of protein, when it comes to bulking up.

Assuming the story is true, I'd imagine that the original 3 day tuna diet was dropped in favor or the high protein supplements that are available these days.
