Nutritional diet and vitamin supplements are a necessary part of your diet, three day or otherwise. Let's face it -- how often do we eat well, nutritionally speaking?
Especially when you are dieting, your body needs essential vitamins and minerals, or it can "steal" them from the body. That might not be a problem if it was occasional, but it's not good when you do it constantly.
Help to stay healthy with good nutritional diet and vitamin supplements!
Start With a Good Multi-Vitamin Nutritional Supplement
At the very least, you should be taking a good multi-vitamin nutritional supplement. But before you head to the vitamin aisle of your grocery store or pharmacy, learn to read labels.
Not only look for the percentages of the recommended daily allowances (RDA) but if you are also getting extra sugars, preservatives or allergens -- you don't need them!
But when is 100% not enough? You may be placing special demands on your body and it may need more. For example, if you are highly stressed, you may possibly need more B vitamins. And since B vitamins aren't stored in the body, you need a new source every day.
Nutritional Diet and Vitamin Supplements With Minerals
Once you've gotten your vitamins taken care of, next think about a multi-mineral supplement. Your body may have special needs that aren't being filled with a standard supplement.
Example -- women tend to need more iron and calcium in their diets than do men. However, you don't want to just add calcium willy-nilly -- it's absorbed best when coupled with vitamin D.
Here's a special note if you frequently drink sodas, regular or diet. Sodas contain phosphoric acid which can leach calcium from your bones, if there's not enough in your system. But better than taking even more calcium is to quit drinking sodas! Your bones will thank you in years to come.
Iron is best absorbed by the body as a ferrous ion, like ferrous sulphate. And like calcium, iron isn't something you should add in a high dose pill, as it can cause stomach upset. Better to take iron in smaller doses two or three times a day.
