Exercising Tips at HomeYou want to get the most out of your time, so here are some exercising tips at home. The whole idea is to work smarter, not harder. Rule Number 1 - WaterNo two ways about it -- if you are exercising, you need to drink water to lose weight. You need to replace water lost from sweating, at the very least. And if you've been breathing hard, you're probably thirsty. Limit Eating for an Hour Here's something that sounds logical. If you are trying to lose weight, don't eat and don't drink anything but water for about an hour after moderate exercise. Why? Your body is still using extra calories getting itself back to normal, and it's using your fat stores for that energy. If you drink a sports drink, juice or a soda, your body will try and use it for the calories, not your fat. Drink water instead! Exercising Tips at Home for Footwear and ClothingA common mistake for those exercising at home is doing your exercises barefoot. While there are some exercises that can be done barefoot (yoga, some dances), it's best to wear some kind of supportive footwear. In other words, wear the same kind of footwear at home, as you would if your were exercising in a gym. Almost the same exercising tips at home goes for clothing -- wear something comfortable and non-binding. However, at home you don't have to "dress up" like you would for a gym workout. Just make sure that it's not so loose that it interferes with any equipment you may be using. . Space to MoveMake sure you have enough space to move properly for your exercise. Depending on the exercise, you may need just enough room for you to stand...or you may need to use several feet in all directions. If you don't have enough space to move as you need, you may not get all the benefits of the exercise. Exercising at Home -- Use Proper FormThis is another tip that gets overlooked -- are you performing the exercise correctly? If you aren't, you may not get the full benefits -- or worse, you could injure yourself. If you can, use a personal trainer to make sure you are doing the exercise correctly. If you can't do that, have a video of how the exercise should look. Ask a friend over to watch the video and then watch you do the same moves. If neither of the two are options, find yourself a full-length mirror and watch your form in it. Don't Forget -- Warm Up and Cool DownAlthough it's tempting if you have a tight schedule, don't skip your warm up and cool down sessions. Both are important so that your body doesn't get strained or cramped. See, weren't these exercising tips at home easy? Congratulations on your commitment to get in shape and be healthy!
