About Me

My name is Gail Nettles, and I am one of those people who seems to gain pounds with ease, then struggle to lose them.

I was thin as a teen, and normal weight up to about 30 years old.  Then my real struggle started.

I'd lose weight, regain it.  Lose some more.  Gain back more.  You get the idea.

Until I was way, way, way up there in weight.  I lost my whole motivation for even trying to diet and just munched away at my food.

Until one day when I was at the doctor's office for my annual visit and I saw the weight on the scales.  It broke my heart.

That day, I was determined to lose weight, and keep it off this time!

I Stumbled Upon the 3 Day Diet Concept

I knew I had to cut back on the food.  And I knew that for me, personally, Weight Watchers and Nutrisystems just didn't fit (although these both can be good weight loss programs for others).

Then I thought about giving my weight loss a bit of a kick-start with a 3 day diet.  You know, to rev up the motivation even more.  So I did -- I started out with the 3 day smoothie diet, to ease my way into a new way of eating.

I'm happy to say that in my first 15 days I lost 10 pounds.  I used 2 different three day diets during this time, then ate sensibly the other 4 days of the week. I just watched my portions and tried to stay away from anything sweet or too fatty.

So now I'm a true believer.  I try to pick 3-day diets that are fairly sound, nutritionally, and of course drink my water and take my nutritional supplements.  I've started a very light exercise program since I lost those first 10 pounds -- mostly resistance bands a couple of times a week.  I'll work my way up from there.

Pictures?

OK, I will come straight out and say it -- I am truly ashamed at my "before" picture.  And since I don't want to scare anyone away, I thought I wouldn't start posting pictures of myself until I had lost at least 35 pounds.

Update: On my weigh-in on Labor Day, I had lost 22 pounds so far.  It may sound slow (I had a bit of a plateau there for a couple of weeks), but I'm losing and not gaining!  And the exciting part is that I can now fit into some smaller clothes.  It may only be 22 pounds, but it feels more like 30 when I try on those clothes. Yippee!

I have a lot of weight to lose -- over 100 pounds total.  I'm hoping to have the first set of pictures up in September -- subscribe to my RSS feed and you'll know when they are up!

I have a long way to go, but I'll get there.

If I can do it, you can too.  Let's do it together.
