3 Day Green Tea Diet Menu

3 Day Green Tea Diet, Loose Leaf Green TeaThe 3 Day Green Tea Diet menu is uncomplicated, but there is still just enough leeway to make things interesting.

One caution:  There is shellfish (shrimp) in this plan.  You can substitute it with chicken if you are allergic to shellfish or if you don't want the extra cholesterol found in shrimp.

In addition, there is a fair amount of caffeine in this 3 day green tea diet menu.  If caffeine bothers you, use decaf green tea.  You won't get quite as much fat-burning, but you'll sleep better. 

In any case, I recommend  that the last tea of the day be decaf, unless you are used to drinking caffeine in the evenings.

Where to Buy Green Tea

You can usually find it at the grocery store, mixed in with the black and oolong teas.  If you can't find it there, check out your local health food store -- they probably have lots of varieties of green tea.  And of course, there is always online.

Asian Green Tea

If you want to really, really treat yourself, though, order some extra special green tea, direct from the grower at Amazing Green Tea.  (I buy it myself, love it and I won't go back to ordinary tea bags!) 

If you do this, keep in mind that it will take about 2 weeks to get your asian green tea order (it's coming from China).  So either put off the diet or (even better) go ahead and do it now, and then again when you get your tea!

For Best Results...

Don't drink any coffee, sodas, diet sodas, etc. while you are on the 3 day green tea diet menu -- water or green tea only.  Try not to use any artificial sweeteners.  If you absolutely have to with the green tea, make it as little as possible -- less than half of what you would normally use. 

Note:  If you can't handle the taste of green tea, you can take green tea extract instead.  But drinking the liquid tea really is better.  And if you use the good stuff the taste is great.

Drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water.  If you weigh over 180 pounds, add an extra 2 or 3 glasses.  You need the water to flush out all the toxins the  green tea is removing from your system.

3 Day Green Tea Diet Menu

Breakfast, All Days

  • 3/4 cup cottage cheese (don't use lowfat)
  • 1.5 cups of any one of the following:
    • Watermelon
    • Cantaloupe
    • Ripe berries
  • 8 ounces of green tea

Snack 1, All Days

  • 1 cup lowfat yogurt, any flavor
  • 8 ounces green tea

Lunch, All Days

  • 3 ounces white tuna packed in water, drained
  • Large salad -- leafy greens and raw veggies
  • Salad dressing -- up to 2 tablespoons of lowfat dressing (do not use fat-free)  
  • 1 cup fresh berries
  • 8 ounces of green tea

Snack 2, All Days

  • 1 medium apple
  • 1 serving part-skim string cheese
  • 8 ounces green tea

Dinner, All Days

  • 3 ounces skinless chicken breast   -or-  5 ounces boiled shrimp (no dip)
  • Steamed veggies, all you can eat
  • Medium mixed salad
  • Salad dressing -- one tablespoon flaxseed oil plus either lemon juice or apple cider vinegar to taste.  (If you can't find flaxseed oil, use olive oil.)  
  • 8 ounces green tea (you may want to make this one decaf)
